I tried to ignore it. I really did. But when a Christian author I admire recommended Mel Robbins' The Let Them Theory, I caved. Half-term in the UK means a lot of time in the car, so I downloaded the audiobook and pressed play.

Here’s the thing. Secular self-help will never ever be enough. (I wrote about that right here: Are You Tired? Burned Out On Sobriety Self-Help?).

But what is also true is that I gained a lot of knowledge at the beginning of my sobriety journey from secular self-help methods.

I just learned later that most of what resonated with me the most, the ability to change the way we think (2 Corinthians 10:5) and ease anxiety (Philippians 4:6), was already in the Bible. The Bible had everything I ever needed.
